MEALS & LAUNDRY
Meals are taken in a group dining tent unless otherwise noted. You may request for meals to be served in your tent.
A cash bar (beer, wine, soft drinks, etc.) is also available, see beverage pricing. Credit cards are not accepted at camp!
Laundry is available at camp for a small fee (about $1-3/item). Items need to air dry, so this service is weather permitting. Laundry is also available at lodges throughout your trip. Laundry fees at lodges vary (about $1 - $15/item).
ELECTRICAL POWER
Nyumbas use solar-powered lighting; please bring a headlamp as back-up and for late-night reading.
There are no power outlets in your Nyumba tents; charge all batteries and devices before leaving home.
Shared charging stations are available at most Nyumba locations in the lounge, and in all Thomson vehicles. Outlets accept US-style plugs.
Lodge outlets require either UK or European adapters for use
Click for information on plug and socket types.
If you require use of a CPAP machine, please review the information about CPAP machines on safari.

Evening temperatures at higher elevations may fall as low as 40° F. During July and August please pack cold-weather clothing as per the packing list. You might not need some of the warmer clothing, but if it gets cold, you’ll be glad you packed extra layers.
Sporadic rain may occur year-round; a lightweight waterproof jacket is recommended.
WILDLIFE VIEWING & CULTURE
Guides
Your highly trained guides will find the best wildlife viewing locations each day with varying morning and afternoon drives.
Your guide will answer any questions you have about local customs and traditions and explain when it is appropriate to take photos of local people – if you are not sure, just ask your guide!
DRIVE EXPECTATIONS
There may be limited toilet facilities while wildlife viewing. Please bring hand sanitizer and toilet paper for possible bush stops.
You will be traveling in Land Rover safari vehicles over bumpy roads, and drives may last from 4 – 8 hours. Those with back issues may wish to bring a travel back pillow or lumbar-support belt.
GUESTS’ RESPONSIBILITY
To Bring
Please bring all items listed on the packing list; here are some items guests are glad they remembered to pack:
• Re-usable water bottle
• Flashlight
• Lightweight, cool weather layer (eg, fleece, Nano Puff® jacket)
• Waterproof jacket
• Hand sanitizing wipes and gels (during wildlife viewing)
• Face masks
To know
Plastic bags are not permitted in Tanzania; Ziploc® bags are acceptable for storing toiletries, and waterproof stuff sacks (nylon or vinyl), or reusable vacuum storage are recommended for cameras and other items that cannot get wet. Single use grocery bags and garbage bags are not allowed, so we recommend reusable alternatives such as mesh / nylon packing cubes or stuff sacks.
